@Kro Wow, these are classic Opel TV commrcial in Japan. Vita (Corsa) was former populer import car. Because it was the cheapest and smallest German car in Japan. German cars are very trusted by Japanese. So Yanase ( Former importer of Opel ) tried to sell Opel as a high quality car. But they neglected to localize Opel for Japanese market. Opel didn't suit Japanese environment. They often broken. Japanese hate not realible cars. Opel became less and less unpopular.

@Kro In 2006, GM decided Opel 's evacuation from Japan. Opel was forgotten in Japan.

In 2019, PSA announced Opel's return to Japan. But now, it is freezed because of COVID-19 and the global chip shortage.
I'm sad😭

@[email protected] I hope it returns soon. You don't really see Opel cars here in America at all.

@Kro I know Opel has never sold cars in USA. But some cars have been sold as Saturn, Pontiac, Cadillac.

@Kro The empire of General Motors ended.
I think brands of GM were very complicated. Now they are simplified and better.

@[email protected] Ahh, they're still alive though not popular at all anymore. I think it's interesting how car branding works in other countries.

@Kro Buick is still popular brand in China. It is weird fact.

@[email protected] maybe they appreciate cars breaking down quickly 😄
